Carbon Nanotubes for High Capacity, Rechargeable Lithium-Air Batteries – 7/6/2011 - Researchers from Applied Sciences Inc., a world leader in advanced materials have demonstrated the ability of Pyrograf III stacked-cup carbon nanotubes to serve as catalyst supports for the air electrode of lithium-air batteries. Preliminary data shows that carbon nanotubes coated with metal oxides are providing reversible behavior for air electrodes to enable the production of secondary lithium-air batteries.

LATEST UPDATE – 6/9/2011 - Researchers from Applied Sciences Inc., a world leader in advanced materials, say carbon nanotubes are ideal materials to pair with nano-sized self-healing capsules in thermoset composites. Applied Sciences is exploring this technology under a NASA Phase I SBIR program targeted at developing self healing composite technology using Pyrograf III carbon nanotubes.

LATEST UPDATE – 6/5/2011 - Pyrograf Products is pleased to announce that the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has issued a consent order to allow the manufacturing and distribution of Pyrograf®-III stacked-cup carbon nanotubes, also known as carbon nanofiber, for commercial applications in the United States. Pyrograf Products joins the ranks of a select few who have been granted the right to sell carbon nanomaterials for commercial use in the US.

  3. 3/25/2008 - A team led by Applied Sciences, Inc. (ASI) was selected to receive a $999,9999 grant from Ohio's Third Frontier program to develop carbon nanofibers for use in automotive lithium-ion batteries. Other members of the winning team include General Motors, A123 Systems, Nanotek Instruments and Pyrograf Products, Inc.
  4. 1/4/2008 - Pyrograf Products’ PR24 carbon nanofibers are highlighted in the January 2008 issue of High Performance Composites. The article addresses new developments in composite tooling, including a description of Boyce Components’ nano-enhanced tooling innovation, which uses Pyrograf Products’ PR24. Pyrograf’s carbon nanofibers are used in a spray-on vinyl ester resin to help heat the tool face, which reduces the cure time of the composite parts. Boyce describes how it chose Pyrograf Products’ PR24 carbon nanofibers over more expensive fullerene nanotubes for its innovative tooling application.
